PD: Car Stolen With 2-Year-Old Still Inside

The mother told police she went inside the laundromat with the car running, the doors unlocked and her child in the car

Police in Springfield, Massachusetts, are looking for a suspect they say stole a van which had a 2-year-old boy sleeping inside Tuesday evening.

According to necn affiliate WWLP, the incident happened at a laundromat at 315 Boston Road. The mother told police she went inside the laundromat with the car running, the doors unlocked and her child in the car.

Police say a man on a bicycle saw the car, got in and drove down Seymour Street. The car was later found abandoned at Apple and Pheland Streets, with the young boy still sleeping inside.

The mother's phone, which was also in the car, was stolen.

Police are investigating the incident and say the mother has been reported to the Department of Youth and Family Services.
