PD: Man Fleeing Police Hit, Killed by Van on Route 195

A man who was allegedly fleeing from police in Massachusetts was hit and killed by a van when he ran into the road Saturday night, according to state police.

Police responded to the scene of the crash on Route 195 westbound near exit 1 in Seekonk around 8:25 p.m. A man, identified Sunday night as 29-year-old Anthony Perry of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, was hit in the left travel lane by a Honda Odyssey driven by a woman from the same state.

Police say Perry originally tried to evade being stopped by Seekonk police by driving behind the Motel 6 on Fall River Avenue and fleeing on foot.

He reportedly ran onto Route 195 and crossed the right and middle travel lanes before being hit by the van.

Perry was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he later died.

The crash remains under investigation.
