PD: Man Leads Officers on 100+ MPH Pursuit; Crashes

27-year-old Blyn Eric Nadeau Jr. was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail Wednesday in Augusta

An Augusta, Maine, man is facing charges after police say he led officers on a chase that reached speeds over 100 mph and ended with a crash in Manchester.

The Kennebec Journal reports 27-year-old Blyn Eric Nadeau Jr. was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail Wednesday in Augusta. He is charged with criminal speeding, driving to endanger and other offenses. Defense attorney Lisa Whittier argued for a lower bail.

Police say the chase began shortly after midnight. An affidavit says officers broke off the chase after speeds topped 100 mph.

Kennebec County Sheriff's Deputy Jeffrey Boudreau says he found the vehicle in a ditch with extensive damage and no driver. He says authorities found Nadeau after a homeowner called police and told them a man was pounding at the door.
