Police in Marblehead, Massachusetts, are searching for a man on a bike who fled the scene after he exposed himself and unsuccessfully tried to grab a woman who was walking Wednesday.
The incident happened along the rail-trail.
"I find that sort of shocking because I've always thought this trail was very safe," said Debbie Mendleson of Salem.
The nearby Tower School, which serves children from pre-K through eighth grade, was locked down from 11:30 a.m. until students left for the day.
"We didn't have any report that any child saw this happen, and the individual didn't approach any of our children at our school," said Headmaster Andrew Taylor. "Obviously, the security of our kids is a priority."
The suspect fled toward Salem.
He was wearing a gray/black winter hat, a face mask, a dark-colored long-sleeve shirt, dark-colored baggy pants and had an orange backpack. He was riding a yellow trek-style bicycle.
