A man who brought a handgun to a Massachusetts elementary school has been arrested on firearm charges.
The Patriot Ledger reports 36-year-old Matthew Vacher, of Braintree, is accused of bringing a handgun onto the town's elementary school grounds Friday, and not properly securing it.
Ross Elementary School was temporarily placed in lockdown Friday morning, and Vacher kept in the school office until officers arrived and found the gun in his backpack. He was transported to South Shore Hospital and evaluated.
Police say Vacher is licensed to carry the firearm and that he did not threaten anyone or mention his weapon.
He will be arraigned on the charges Monday in Quincy District Court. The event remains under investigation by police. An attorney for Vacher has not been identified.
