Patient's 6th Floor Falling Death Ruled Accidental

Officials say 43-year-old Paul Cady of Hollis fell from the sixth floor of the Richards Tower on March 29

The death of a patient who fell from a window at Maine Medical Center has been ruled accidental.

Officials say 43-year-old Paul Cady of Hollis fell from the sixth floor of the Richards Tower on March 29.

He was being treated at Maine Medical Center for brain injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident.

His daughter, Miranda Cady, said she believes he wanted to go home and that's probably why he opened the window. She says her father was able to push a sliding window past a bolt that was supposed to prevent it from fully opening.

Paul Cady's funeral is planned for Saturday.

The death is under investigation by the Department of Health and Human Services' Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services, which oversees hospitals.
