Patriots Fans Celebrate Start of NFL Season

A Patriots season kickoff celebration was held at Gillette Stadium Thursday night with safety Devin McCourty and country star Chris Lane.

The Patriots are reigning Super Bowl Champions, and McCourty says he can't wait to see the Championship banner raised Sunday when the Pats take on the Steelers for the first game of the season.

"Now starting the season, it gives you a real boost, and the fans come with so much energy to kick off that night, so we're excited," said McCourty.

Lane is not a Pats fan, being from North Carolina.

"I don't mind Tom Brady," he said. "Obviously, they are talented, they've won many Super Bowls, so I'm kind of jealous of that."

Keith Perkins, in town for the game from Virginia, and says you just can't beat being a Pats fan right now.

"I've been a Patriots fan since I can remember football, back in the old days," he said. "So I remember how it was then when we just couldn't wait to get to the playoffs, now we have expectations to get into the playoffs every year."

Autographs were signed and the Lombardi Trophy was on hand at the party hosted by the Patriots and Pepsi. Fans hoping this year will bring a seventh ring.

"I'm so excited to be here," said fan Nicole Henri. "My family has been season ticket holders for ever. We love football and love the Patriots."
