Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Caught on Camera

A hit-and-run pedestrian crash was caught on camera Wednesday morning in Spencer, Massachusetts.

The man who was tossed from the hood of a car around 11:30 a.m. on Main Street. is Spencer town administrator William Klansek.

Police say he was trying to cross Route 9 from a shopping complex to meet up the fire chief to inspect a restaurant when he was hit, left lying in the middle of the busy street.

Michael Wong, the owner of Chef Sau's, says he was coming to inspect his restaurant.

"I was watching him. Next thing you know, when the ambulance pulls up, he jumps in. I said, 'What are you doing?'" Wong recalled. "The fire chief comes in. I said 'What happened?' He just said, 'He got wiped out.'"

Police say 18-year-old Anthony Demichele was driving the car.

They tracked him down after pulling the surveillance footage and questioning people driving gray Oldsmobile Aleros.

After they left Demichele's house, police say he called them and admitted it.

Police say he told them he thought hit "something," but didn't know what it was and that he thought he hit a curb leaving the parking lot.

He's been issued a criminal citation for leaving the scene of an accident with injury resulting.

Klansek was treated at UMass Memorial Medical Center and released.
