Woman Hit, Killed by Car in Boston Neighborhood

The crash happened in the Mission Hill neighborhood

Katy Boyd ran to the scene outside her home after hearing a commotion. “I heard a crash and screaming.”

A woman was trapped under a car.

“I got on my hands and knees, stomach, tried to dig, I didn’t know where she was, I yelled out, there was no response,” she said.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Jessica Cosman originally from North Grafton.

A source close to the investigation says the woman was walking up the sidewalk along this Mission Hill street with two male friends, when a driver lost control on the snowy road and plowed into her.

The crash happened near Hillside and Sunset streets at 5:45 pm, during the height of a snowstorm. Residents there say drivers were having problems all day.

“Just today I saw two or three cars squirrel and hit the sidewalk here and come down the hill as slow as possible,” says Nathan Watt.

Boyd and others tried to help her but there was nothing they could do. She would pass away here at the scene from her injuries.

“I’ve never met the person, I don’t know the lady but I’ve never felt so much hurt for someone I’ve never met,” says Boyd.

The driver, a 20-year-old man whose name was not released, allegedly lost control owing to the current winter storm conditions. He stayed at the scene of the accident, according to authorities and is cooperating.
