College Student Killed in Overnight Crash on Route 128

A college student was killed in an overnight crash on Route 128 in Beverly, Massachusetts.

The crash happened on the northbound side near exit 18 just after midnight.

The victim, 20-year-old Boxford resident Timothy Glendinning, was a student at Endicott College.

The motorist, a 55-year-old Florida man, stopped and called police, who say he is cooperating with the investigation.

Investigation shows the victim was in the left lane with a skateboard when he was struck. It's unclear if he was on the skateboard at the time of the crash.

In a statement, Endicott College said there will be a candlelight vigil on campus Tuesday night to mourn Glendinning's death and that the college's counseling staff is available for those seeking support.

"The community is profoundly saddened by his loss and our deepest sympathies are with the Glendinning family," a college spokesperson said in a statement.

The crash remains under investigation.
