Pedestrian Stuck by Tractor Trailer

Woman sustained non-life threatening injuries

A pedestrian was struck by a tractor trailer in Oakland, Maine, according to state police.

Police say a woman had parked her vehicle in the breakdown lane along I-95, late Friday morning. She was struck after stepping out of her van to retrieve water from the trunk.

The driver attempted to swerve out of the way of the woman, who had stepped directly into the truck's path of travel. The woman came into contact with the trailer portion of the truck, according to police.

The woman sustained non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment. 

Upon reviewing the truck's dashboard camera, Police determined the woman's actions to be deliberate and the trruck driver was not at fault.
