Pedestrian in Critical Condition After Being Hit by Truck

Neither speed nor driver impairment appear to be factors in the accident

Police in Nashua, New Hampshire, say a pedestrian is in critical condition after he was struck by a truck at an intersection during the night in heavy rain.

Police say 53-year-old Timothy O'Donnell of Nashua was unconscious with a head injury Wednesday night when he was hospitalized.

They said 26-year-old Ryan Hughes had just made a left turn from Amherst Street onto Cotton Road when he saw a man walking in the middle of the road. He said he applied his brakes, but was unable to avoid hitting him.

Police said at this time, neither speed nor driver impairment appear to be factors in the accident. The truck, owned by Hudson-RPM Distributors LLC, was towed to the police department pending the outcome of a vehicle safety inspection.
