Man Hit, Killed by MBTA Commuter Rail Train in Hanson

A man was killed after he was hit by an MBTA Commuter Rail train on Wednesday in Hanson, Massachusetts.

Authorities from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority said a "railroad trespasser" was hit by an inbound Kingston/Plymouth train sometime around 6 a.m. in the area of 1070 Main St.

Due to police activity, the Kingston Train 032 from Kingston was stopped at Hanson Station. Delays reached up to 55 minutes and Route 27 was closed from Elm to Phillips Streets.

To accomodate passengers, an extra train was deployed from Whitman Station to substitute the stalled service, according to the MBTA. All Kingston/Plymouth trains resumed normal service by 9 a.m., officials said.

Authorities have not revealed the identity of the victim.
