Man Seriously Hurt When Tree He Was Cutting Fell on Him, Firefighters Say

Firefighters with the Onset Fire Department had to cut branches from around the victim so the fallen tree wouldn't roll on to him

A man was struck by a tree he was cutting in Wareham, Massachusetts, and subsequently airlifted to a nearby hospital Monday morning, fire officials said.

Video footage from the scene show several emergency responders assisting the injured man at the scene on 19th Street.

Firefighters with the Onset Fire Department had to cut branches from around the victim so the fallen tree wouldn't roll on to him, the department said.

Police, firefighters and Wareham's EMS director all responded to the call about 9 a.m., firefighters said. The initial call from police to the Onset Fire Department said the man was trapped under the tree, but firefighters found he wasn't.

The victim was airlifted from Tobey Hospital, officials said.
