Teen Stabbed With Golf Club in Wakefield, Massachusetts

Police said stabbing took place during an altercation

An 18-year-old man was hospitalized Tuesday after being stabbed in the neck with a broken golf club in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

Police said the stabbing took place at the Breakheart Reservation at about 5 p.m. following an altercation between three men from Beverly. Authorities said the men showed up together in the same car and after the stabbing, the suspect took off.

"(He) stole a car, fled the area and there was a car crash in Wakefield Center," said Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Mark Lynch.

Police said the suspect suffered minor injuries in that crash and was quickly arrested. He was identified as 18-year-old Curtis Day.

The victim was taken by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston with life threatening injuries. His identity has not been released.

Police said the incident appears to be isolated.

"There is no threat to the public and the reservation is still safe," said Wakefield Police Chief Rick Smith.
