Service Resumes After Person Struck by Red Line Train

The person was removed and was conscious and alert, according to fire officials

Service on the Red Line's Ashmont branch has resumed after officials responded to person struck by a train at Fields Corner, according to the MBTA.

The accident was reported around 8 a.m. Friday. Boston Fire said a technical rescue team was able to remove the person, who was conscious and alert and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Service was bused between JFK and Ashmont, the MBTA said. Delays ensued while buses were dispatched. Shuttles were provided at Savin Hill, Hill Avenue at Fields Corner and on Shawmut Avenue.

Several Red Line riders posted photos on Twitter showing signs saying "no train service."

No further information was immediately available.
