Suspect in Custody in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Police say they have someone in custody in the Plymouth, Massachusetts, hit-and-run of an elderly woman who died at a hospital from her injuries Thursday morning.

Sixty-nine-year-old Marjorie Cochrane was walking her son's dog near Lunn's Way and Garrett Place when she and her dog were hit around 7:54 a.m.

The person in custody has been identified as 39-year-old Timothy LaPierre, of Plymouth. He is being charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in personal injury or death, as well as motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation.

LaPierre's vehicle was located Thursday evening. Police located the vehicle following a door-to-door investigation.

Cochrane, who was suffered serious head injuries at the scene, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess in Plymouth, but then flown by helicopter to Boston Medical Center, where she died, according to police. The dog was also killed.

The crash is being investigated by Plymouth police along with Massachusetts State Police detectives and its accident reconstruction team.

LaPierre will be arraigned Friday in court.
