Police Warn Drivers After Ice Missile Smashes Car Windshield

Police are warning drivers to clear off snow and ice from roofs following Monday's storm

Massachusetts police are reminding everyone to remove snow and ice from their vehicles before driving following a big storm after an ice missile smashed the windshield of a car Wednesday morning in Taunton.

Taunton authorities wrote on Facebook that they were called to a scene after a sheet of ice flew off a box truck driving on South Walker Street and smashed through the windshield of the car behind it.

The person operating the vehicle was covered in glass and received minor injuries. The driver of the box truck did not stop. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

"We understand that clearing the snow from your vehicle can be difficult, however if you fail to do so, you can be stopped by police and cited," wrote Taunton police.

Parts of Worcester County got more than 17 inches of snow during Monday's storm, while Taunton itself saw a foot of snow.
