Piglets, Rabbits Seized From Springfield, Massachusetts, Home

Two piglets and four rabbits have been seized from a home in Springfield, Massachusetts.

City animal control officers took the animals from a Forest Park residence on Monday, according to MassLive.

Authorities initially believed the home was abandoned, but an owner came forward, reports the Western Massachusetts news site.

The animals are currently staying in kennels. MassLive visited the shelter on Thursday. They were told the animals are in decent health, but were not kept in good conditions at their previous home.

The owner would be expected to improve conditions if the rabbits are reclaimed.

Piglets are banned as house pets in the city of Springfield. They will likely be transfered to a rescue farm.
