Pipe Bomb Blast Suspect Denies Charges Through Attorney

Mark McCloud waived his right to appear in court for his arraignment Monday

A federal defense lawyer has entered a plea of not guilty on behalf of her client to charges stemming from the December explosion of a homemade pipe bomb outside a home in Northfield, Vermont.

The Burlington Free Press reports
45-year-old Mark McCloud waived his right to appear in court for his arraignment Monday.

A one-count federal indictment returned last week charged McCloud with knowingly possessing a "destructive device" not registered to him in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

McCloud lost his left hand in the Dec. 9 explosion at his North Street home that also injured his pregnant wife and others.

A trial date has not yet been scheduled. McCloud faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison if he's convicted.
