Man Captured After Standoff in Plymouth

A man was captured Friday night after a standoff with police in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Police confirmed after 10:30 p.m. that a 49-year-old Plymouth man had been found. He was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital to be evaluated.

Police got a call around 3 p.m. from a mental health facility saying he had threatened to kill himself. SWAT team members and other law enforcement personnel responded to Worrell Road, where the man had been barricaded.

Later Friday, responders searched inside the home for the man. They say they seized weapons belonging to a relative.

The man did not make threats to anyone but himself and police did not believe he was a threat to the public.

Nearby homes were evacuated during the standoff.

Police did not say whether the man would face charges.
