Two students at a Massachusetts elementary school had a special surprise this week when their mother, a Navy officer, showed up at an assembly for a welcome home ceremony after her deployment.

In a video released by Plymouth Public Schools, South Elementary School students Emma and Cameron ran up to their mother, Chief Petty Officer Katherine Ayer, as she walked into the gym after coming home from her deployment.

Soon, the entire room stood up and clapped during the reunion, as Cameron and Emma hugged their mother.

A faculty member speaking to students said they were thanking Chief Petty Officer Ayers for her service.
