Police: 70-Year-Old Run Over by Own Car

A 70-year-old Massachusetts man was flown to a Boston-area hospital after being run over by his own car on Monday morning, authorities confirmed.

Wellesley police say first responders got the call around 11:30 a.m. for a man, identified as a Wellesley resident, trapped under the wheel of a car at the recycling and disposal facility.

After the man backed his vehicle into a spot to unload, he got out of the car, when it began rolling forward because the parking brake wasn't properly engaged, according to police.

The man tried to stop the car from rolling forward by holding onto the car's door, and was knocked down by it when it continued to roll forward, causing him to be struck by the front driver side tire, police said.

Two bystanders moved the vehicle, freeing the man, who was taken to a Boston-area hospital by a medical helicopter.

Police say the man has suspected internal injuries.

No further details about the man were released.
