Police: Carjacking Suspect Arrested After Violent Struggle

Police say a subject was attempting to stop vehicles slowing down for the crash and enter them in an attempt to flee the scene

A man accused of attempting to flee from the scene of a crash was arrested after a violent encounter with police, according to Massachusetts State Police.

The incident happened Thursday morning at 11:17 in Milford.

Police say a subject was attempting to stop vehicles slowing down for the crash and enter them in an attempt to flee the scene.

The officer attempted to get the man out of the roadway, but when the man failed to comply, the officer attempted arrest.

Police say the suspect, a 24-year-old from Manchester, Connecticut, struggled with the officer throughout the arrest. When placed into the cruiser, the suspect kicked out the rear window, and then another struggle with the suspect and the officer ensued.

Police say investigation indicates that the suspect hit the truck and fled into the woods, only to emerge shortly after, and attempted to force his way into other vehicles.

The man, who had a warrant for his arrest, was charged with operating under the influence of drugs, assault and battery on an officer, and carjacking, among other charges.
