Vermont State Police are investigating a true cat burglary.

Investigators say late Saturday afternoon, a man entered an occupied home on Route 105 in Troy, and stole a cat.

Police said the suspect is an older man, approximately 5’5” tall, with grey or white hair, a stubbly beard, and was wearing a dark hooded coat and jeans. The suspect drove off in a small, dark, 4-door sedan, the homeowner told police.

The man reportedly told the homeowner he was looking for a cat named "Mason" before stealing the gray cat with dark tiger stripes, white paws, and white chin.

Vermont State Police provided a photo of the stolen cat, as well as a photo of the accused cat thief appearing to walk away with the animal.
