Police Cruiser Involved in Head-on Crash

The pick-up truck crossed the center line and hit the cruiser head on, causing the cruiser to come to rest in the wood line

Two people were injured one a police officer, after a truck pick-up truck crashed head on into a police cruiser early Tuesday morning in New Durham, New Hampshire, police confirm.

New Hampshire State Police responded to the scene of the crash at 12:39 a.m. on Old Bay Road.

Investigation showed that the 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 traveling westbound was operating erratically and an officer driving eastbound to a domestic incident pulled over to observe the vehicle.

The pick-up truck crossed the center line and hit the cruiser head on, causing the cruiser to come to rest in the wood line.

The driver of the truck, Christopher Bean 28, of New Durham, received serious injuries. He was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital.

The officer, Michael Joy, received minor injuries and was transported to Frisbee Memorial Hospital.

Police say that alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
