Massachusetts Officer Struck While Working Detail in Cruiser

Officer and driver hospitalized for minor injuries

A Massachusetts police officer was injured Monday night after being struck inside his cruiser while working detail on the Rowley-Georgetown line.

Police said work crews were starting to close the two left lanes on Interstate 95 northbound when the officer was struck from behind at 7:20 p.m.

The driver who struck the officer ended up in the median due to the impact.

Police said both the officer and driver were taken to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

State Police are investigating the exact cause of the crash.
