Police Follow ATV Tracks, Make DUI Arrest

State police in Vermont say ATV tracks on a snowy road led them to charge an 18-year-old Derby Line man with drunken driving

State police in Vermont say ATV tracks on a snowy road led them to charge an 18-year-old Derby Line man with drunken driving.

In an announcement Wednesday, troopers say they got a call about 2 a.m. Saturday to report an ATV driving onto US Route 5 in Derby Line.

Federal Border Patrol agents followed the ATV's tracks through the snow to a residence where they found Burton Jacobs.

A breath test revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.21 percent, more than 2 ½ times the legal limit for driving under the influence.

When Jacobs was placed in the cruiser, he kicked out the rear window. He is being held at the Northern State Correctional facility without bail. It could not immediately be learned if he had a lawyer.
