There's a new police horse on the scene and his name is Tarentino Strong.
The chestnut-colored horse is named after slain Auburn, Massachusetts police officer Ronald Tarentino, Jr. who was killed during a traffic stop on May 23, 2016.
Auburn's rotary club and Horses and Heroes Foundation Inc. hosted a naming ceremony for Tarentino Strong that took place on Saturday, at noon, at Lemansky Park in Auburn.
At the ceremony, family members of Officer Tarentino were able to meet Tarentino Strong - nicknamed Tino - before he leaves to become a U.S. Park Police horse in Washington, D.C.
Later this month, the Tarentino family will also travel to Washington to attend the dedication ceremony for Officer Tarentino's name on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. Tino will be stationed in the city at the same time.
