Police: House Fire Kills 1 Person in Shrewsbury, Vermont

Vermont State Police say a house fire in Shrewsbury has killed one person.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at the single-family home shortly before 4 p.m. Friday. The house was engulfed in flames by the time they arrived.

State police say firefighters discovered the body of one of the home's occupants while fighting the blaze. The person has not yet been positively identified.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but state police say it is not considered suspicious. Damage to the home has been estimated at $200,000.
