Police in Providence, Rhode Island, say a Woonsocket woman was found dead at Roger Williams Park.
Police on Thursday identified her as 45-year-old Aretha Beard.
Police say a passerby discovered the body at about 8 p.m. Tuesday on the grass at the entrance to the park's botanical center.
WPRI-TV reports that police say it appears as if the victim was targeted and they are treating the case as a homicide.
Police say they're awaiting results from the medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death.
Beard's death marks the 15th homicide in the city this year.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the department.
