Body Washes Ashore at Salisbury Beach

The body of a 24-year-old male was discovered by a morning walker on Monday.

Police are investigating after a body washed ashore at Salisbury Beach on Monday morning.

According to police, a man's body was discovered by someone walking the beach around 7 a.m. Salisbury police responded to the area of Commonwealth Avenue and Brookline Street. The body was found just southeast of beach access number 12.

The victim was identified by his driver's license as Forest Griffin, 24, of Salisbury, Massachusetts. According to police, Griffin's body washed ashore wearing only socks and shoes. His clothes and personal belongings washed to shore near his body.

Foul play is not suspected, said police, who do not consider the circumstances surrounding Griffin's death suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing, but police said there is not believed to be any danger to the public.
