Police Investigate Trooper's “Concerning” Social Media Posts

Vermont State Police has launched an internal review of a trooper's "concerning social media posts."

The department says that upset people notified it of the trooper's posts.

"We take our commitment to fair and impartial policing very seriously, and I am deeply disturbed by what I read today," said Col. Tom L'Esperance, the department's director, said in a statement. "These messages do not represent the core values of the state police and will not be tolerated by me. We will be investigating thoroughly to determine if this trooper violated our policies or failed to meet the highest standard of professional conduct."

Police say a social media policy is in place, and that the investigation will determine whether or not the trooper violated that policy.
