Vermont Death Ruled a Homicide

35-year-old Sultan Rashed was found alone in a vehicle in Brattleboro

Police are investigating the death of a man found in a vehicle in Vermont earlier this week as a homicide.

Brattleboro Police responding to a report of a medical emergency Monday morning found 35-year-old Sultan Rashed alone in a vehicle. The Brattleboro man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brattleboro Police and state police initially called Rashed's death "untimely," but following an autopsy have now declared the death a homicide. The cause of death is a gunshot wound.

No arrests have been made, but police said their investigation suggests that this was not a random act, and there is not believed to be any threat to the general public, police said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone who had contact with Rashed from Nov. 8 to Nov. 9 is asked to contact Vermont State Police or Brattleboro Police Department.
