Police Investigating After Woman Shot in Head in Supermarket Parking Lot

Police in Maine are investigating after a woman was shot in the head in a supermarket parking lot.

Officers found the woman, identified as 22-year-old Chelsea Jones of Thomaston, in a car at about 4 p.m. Monday in Bath.

Authorities are describing the shooting as accidental. State police spokesman Steve McCausland says initial indications are that the shooter, identified as Jones' boyfriend, 23-year-old Dylan Grubbs of Thomaston, was intending to sell a gun to someone else he had met up with in a Shaw's supermarket parking lot.

The potential buyer was not injured. The woman was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick and later transferred to Maine Medical Center. Her condition is unclear.

No arrests have been made.
