Man Arraigned in Stabbing Death of Girlfriend

A man is accused of fatally stabbing his longtime girlfriend in Peabody, Massachusetts.

A Peabody, Massachusetts, man allegedly stabbed his longtime girlfriend to death with a young child in the house, according to state officials.

The Essex County District Attorney's office confirms 59-year-old Brandon Hoar was arraigned on a first-degree murder charge in Peabody District Court Tuesday afternoon. He is held without bail.

Peabody Police responded to 1 Gates Road around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Hoar allegedly told police that he had stabbed his girlfriend. The victim, 55-year-old Cheryl Young, was pronounced dead on scene. 

Hoar and Young lived at the home with the victim's 5-year-old granddaughter. She is now in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.

Hoar is due back in court on July 16.
