Police Investigating Hotel Shooting in RI

The hotel manager told WJAR the incident was isolated and guests should not worry

Police are investigating an early morning shooting at a Lincoln hotel.

An employee of the Marriott Courtyard tells WJAR-TV that a woman who was staying at the hotel came downstairs around 5:30 a.m. Friday screaming that her boyfriend had been shot by a man who came into their room.

Police say the victim was taken for surgery at Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition.

Police Capt. Philip Gould says the shooter and victim knew each other and it does not appear to be a random shooting.

State police says a person of interest is in custody, but it's not clear if that person is considered a suspect.

State and local police are on the scene. No names were released and the hotel remains open for business.
