A suspect has been arrested following a stabbing and shooting in Revere, Massachusetts, officials say.
Hector Emilio Hernandez, 24, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.
A 27-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both of Chelsea, were hospitalized Saturday after one was shot multiple times and the other was stabbed multiple times in an altercation inside a building across the street from Revere's City Hall, authorities say.
Local police responded to 16 Pleasant Street around 1:45 a.m. to find the two victims suffering from serious injuries, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said.
The shooting victim, who has not been identified, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries, police say.
The stabbing victim, who also has not been identified, was being treated for serious injuries at Beth Israel.
Massachusetts State Police responded because of the seriousness of the injuries, the DA said.
“Thought it was a big accident I seen the street cordoned off,” said Anthony D’alelio, who owns Brewin Cafe on Pleasant Avenue in Revere.
D’alelio says he didn’t expect to find a crime scene when he opened his shop Saturday morning.
“The cop questioned me why I was there. I told him I own the restaurant, the coffee shop,” he said.
State officials were on scene for several hours Saturday morning at the Pleasant Street building that has a Century 21 sign in the front yard.
“I learned from customers that it was a stabbing and a gunshot at the real estate office,” D’alelio said.
D’alelio is thankful he dodged a bullet.
“I feel bad that it was somebody else’s problem but I’m glad that it wasn’t mine today.”
However, D’alelio said he does not feel less safe than he did the day before.
“There’s a police substation next door, the City Hall is next door,” he said. I feel pretty safe in general.”
Hernandez is expected to be arraigned Monday in Chelsea District Court. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
The facts and circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
