A Massachusetts karate instructor has been charged with raping a 13-year-old girl.
The Sun Chronicle reports that Corey Ruel of North Attleboro was held on $50,000 bail after not guilty pleas to five counts of aggravated statutory rape of a child were entered on his behalf.
Prosecutors say the 40-year-old married father of three met the girl at the Attleboro YMCA several months ago and had sex with her on multiple occasions.
Police and Ruel's lawyer say he was a karate instructor at the YMCA, but the Y's CEO says that Ruel was a member, but that she did not know him to be an instructor.
Ruel's attorney argued for lower bail, saying his client was not a flight risk.
