Police: Landlords Attacked Tenants, Took Dog, Keys

Two landlords have been arrested after police say they stole their tenants' dog and keys before injuring them in a fight that stemmed from a financial dispute in Hooksett, New Hampshire.

Richard Bernier, 68, and Keri McCallum, 49, were arrested Saturday afternoon. Police said that McCallum had gone into the tenants' residence at 19 Vindale Road, taking their dog without consent. She then allegedly went back with Bernier, again without consent, and stole their car keys and a house key.

When the residents tried to take their property back, police say, they were involved in a struggle with the suspects that started inside and ended outside.

Police say one tenant was thrown to the ground, cutting his head. Another was bruised in the fight.

McCallum and Bernier are both charged with robbery and criminal trespassing. McCallum also faces burglary charges.

Bernier was released on $5,000 bail while McCallum was released on $10,000 bail. Both are scheduled to appear in court on April 15.
