Police Led on High-Speed Chase From Cape Cod

Dennis police received reports of a possibly armed, emotionally distressed man who threatened harm against others

Massachusetts State Police were led on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of 70 to 80 mph and stretched from Cape Cod to Middleborough.

Dennis police received reports of a possibly armed, emotionally distressed man who threatened harm against others around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The man, who wasn't identified, evaded troopers who attempted to pull him over on U.S. Route 6 in Yarmouth.

State police say the chase continued up state Route 25 until it ended about an hour later when the driver surrendered on Interstate 495 in Middleborough.

The motorist was taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton for evaluation. Charges will be brought after he is released from the hospital.

State police say troopers recovered an air pistol designed to mimic a .357 revolver in the man's Ford F150.
