Father Says Man Tried to Lure Son Into Car With PlayStation in Leicester

Police said driver was holding the game while waving for the child to come towards his car

Police are investigating a suspicious incident that took place on Saturday afternoon in Leicester, Massachusetts, when a young boy was allegedly approached by the side of the road by a man in a car.

Police said the incident happened at the intersection of Green and Baldwin streets.

The father of the victim told necn that his sons, a 12-year-old and a 7-year-old, were walking to a neighbor’s house to deliver a popcorn order. When the younger boy went up to the neighbor’s door, the 12-year-old, still on the street, was waved down by a man in a car who showed him a PlayStation 4.

The boy walked away unharmed and the man in the car drove off.

The father did not want to be identified in order to protect his children but said the incident is concerning.

“We live in a really, really tiny neighborhood. I mean this street we're on right now can barely pass two cars at the same time,” the father said. “Hearing that that happened kind of concerns me, but knowing also that my son did the right thing is comforting.”

The father says he posted about what happened on Facebook to let his neighbors know as quickly as possible. That post has been shared more than 250 times.

The 4-door car is described as a burgundy with two red stickers on the back bumper — one on the right and one on the left. The driver was about 20 years of age.

Police are looking to speak with the driver as part of their investigation into the incident.

Anyone with information on the driver or the car in question is asked to contact Leicester Police at 508-892-7010.
