Man Accused of Assaulting Logan Airport Security Worker

53-year-old Eric Brandhorst of Carlisle faces assault and battery charges

A Massachusetts man is facing assault and battery charges after allegedly attacking a security worker at Boston's Logan Airport.

Massachusetts State Police say around 6 a.m. Tuesday, 53-year-old Eric Brandhorst of Carlisle was at a security checkpoint and was told that his backpack was too large to take on board his United Airlines flight to Denver.

According to state police, Brandhorst then hit a 74-year-old worker with that backpack and she fell to the ground.

A trooper tackled Brandhorst and he was taken into custody, authorities said. 

The victim had bruising around her left eye and reported pain in her hip, knee and shoulder, which was caused by her hitting the floor. She was transported to Mass. General Hospital for further examination.

Brandhorst was arraigned Tuesday and released on personal recognizance with orderds to stay away from Logan Airport.

He is due back in court Feb. 3.
