Police: Man Carjacked Woman, Robbed Bank

A Portland, Maine, man police say was responsible for a carjacking and a bank robbery on the same day earlier this month has been arrested.

Jimmy Odong was caught Thursday afternoon after initially fleeing from police trying to apprehend him.

Police say the 25-year-old Odong approached a woman in a parking lot in Portland on July 17, pointed a handgun at her and ordered her out of her vehicle. She escaped and he drove away in the vehicle.

Later the same day, police say Odong robbed a Key Bank branch in Freeport at gunpoint.

He faces a state charge of robbery in the carjacking case and a federal bank robbery charge.

Odong was held in jail Thursday. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
