Police: Man In Custody After Firing Shots at Vehicle in Marion

A man was taken into custody Monday night after police say he fired shots at a woman traveling along a roadway in Marion, Massachusetts.

Officers responded to Mill Street (Route 6) at 6:53 p.m. for what they said was an apparent domestic violence call involving shots fired.

The victim told police she had been driving in the area of Sparrow Lane when the shots rang out.

Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle, a black Ford Mustang, which was traveling eastbound on Route 6.

The driver initially failed to stop for police and continued east on Route 6. Police said the man then turned onto Spring Street and onto Route 105 northbound. As he tried to exit onto Route 195 westbound, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into several trees.

Police were able to take the man into custody without further incident. Authorities said officers located a handgun inside the vehicle.

The name of the suspect has not yet been released.

No injuries were reported.

Police said the incident is under investigation.
