A Waterford, Vermont, man has been ordered held without bail after police said he left his 1-and-a-half-year-old daughter home alone with an electric heater left on in her crib, but brought his dog with him.

A Vermont man has been ordered held without bail after police said he left his 1 ½-year-old baby girl home alone, but took his dog with him.

Keith Taylor of Waterford pleaded not guilty Monday in Caledonia County Superior Court to child endangerment, domestic assault, drunken driving, and other offenses.

The Caledonian Record reports the 35-year-old Taylor was on probation after being convicted of violating an abuse prevention order in May. He was stopped while driving Saturday.

Police said the baby wasn't hurt, but was found in her crib with a portable electric heater that had been left on.
