William Longley is facing a string of charges after he allegedly threatened to kill his neighbors and shot a gun in their driveway, necn affiliate WCSH reports.
The Somerset County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in Norridgewock, Maine, after receiving a report that a man was threatening to harm his neighbors. Chief Deputy James Ross said moments later a man called 911 claiming he was going down to kill his neighbors because they had kidnapped his girlfriend.
According to police, the neighbors called a second time to report that Longley was in their driveway and holding a gun. Longley allegedly began shooting while he pounded on the side of the home. Neighbors told dispatchers that Longley was trying to break into their home when he smashed a glass door in their entry way.
When deputies arrive at the scene on Old Country Road, Longley fought police as they tried to arrest him. Deputies said they found three bullet holes inside the home and it turns out Longley's girlfriend had just gone for a walk.
Longley was charged with felony aggravated reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, criminal mischief and resisting arrest. He is currently being held at the Somerset County Jail and is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
Somerset County Deputies were assisted at the scene by Skowhegan Police and the Maine State Police.
Alcohol is believed to have played a role in this situation.
