Police: Mass. Man Shot After Being Mistaken for Deer

A Massachusetts man who was out in the woods with his dog is being treated for minor injuries after being shot when a hunter mistook him for a deer, according to police.

Hyannis Police say the 39-year-old victim was running in the woods with his dog near Mary Dunn Road around 5 p.m. Monday when the hunter mistakenly thought he was a deer, and shot his weapon.

The victim was shot in the neck and side with buckshot, police said, and is being treated at Cape Cod Hospital for minor injuries. He's expected to be released Monday night.

Massachusetts Environmental Police are investigating the incident.
