Police: Mass. Teen to Face Criminal Harassment Charges in Attempt to Frame Another Girl

The teenager confessed to writing the threat note and social media messages, according to police

A 15-year-old girl in Lowell, Massachusetts, will be charged with criminal harassment and disturbing a school assembly, the Tyngsborough Police Department said.

The teenager, whose name was not announced, allegedly created an elaborate hoax, which included racial remarks and racists threats over social media, and posted a threatening note in the bathroom of the Academy of Notre Dame.

Over the past few months, police were getting reports about racist messages sent over Facebook and Instagram. The initials of another student were on some of these messages. On May 16, police found the threat note in the bathroom of the Academy of Notre Dame. The suspect was identified in an investigation that followed.

According to police, the teenager confessed to writing the threat note and social media messages, putting another person's initials on some messages in an "apparent attempt to frame other student."

The suspect was expelled from the school after the investigation.
