Police: Motorist Killed by Downed Tree

Groton, Connecticut, police say a motorist was killed when a tree fell on his vehicle during a fast-moving and violent storm.

The unidentified motorist, who was alone in the car, died Tuesday morning.

The thunderstorm downed wires and several trees in southeastern Connecticut.

The man's identity is being withheld until family members are notified.

By 3 p.m., 3,800 Eversource customers were still without power in Stonington and 128 in Groton.
